SPRING 2025
THE GRAVITY BOUND TEAM
Frankie Lasley
Director
Frankie is a story artist, animator, and director who is inspired by classic films and folktales, and has a deep love of science and space which lead her to create the story of Gravity Bound. Working with the passionate team behind the film pushed her to become a better artist, a better storyteller, and a better collaborator. Outside of animating, she loves watching documentaries, old movies, and spending time outside. She is excited to continue making art and animating stories, hoping to expand her skills and horizons with every new project.

Ryan Angelo Cera
Producer, CG Lead
Animation has always been a fantastical medium to Ryan, being able to craft an entire world from the ground up. This magical lens drew him to Gravity Bound, a story that was filled with so much whimsy and fantasy, the task was daunting and seemingly impossible. And evidently, the impossible became a reality through the dedication and hard work of the Gravity Bound team. As Producer and CG Lead, Ryan was responsible for managing the modeling and look development, building custom materials and shaders for the 3D assets, along with taking on the bulk of compositing. He remained accessible and available to work with the team in the long nights of production, creating a sense of community and trust amongst the crew. Ryan is beyond proud of the Gravity Bound team for taking on the magical, ambitious story and breathing life to the Moon Man and his isolated world.
Mel Dos Santos
Production Assistant, 3D Animator
Mel has always enjoyed making characters come to life, she got the chance to make mystical beings live and breathe through her work on Gravity Bound. The whimsical nature of this film combined with its heartfelt story, made it magical to work on. They got involved in several aspects of production, working the ever so complex hero prop, the Gravity Box, along with leading previs work with fellow animator Amanda Hawkins. Mel was able to pick up shots at the drop of a hat all while balancing Moon Man’s highly physically expressive moments with the subtle character acting that the film required. They became the team’s go-to for 3D clean up when heading into post-production while assisting the team with lighting and compositing. Working as a Production Assistant, Mel was always willing to take on the next task at hand whether it be animation clean up or organizing production materials. Mel has been resilient and happy to help in any way to the team.

Joshua Johnson
Production Assistant, Story and Concept Artist, 2D Animator
Joshua was drawn to Gravity Bound for its magic and emotional core, contributing to the film’s story development and visual tone. As a Story and Concept Artist and 2D Animator, he helped shape the heart of the film through early narrative explorations—designing characters, props, and environments that brought the world to life. He also focused on 2D effects and visual flourishes that added texture to the primarily 3D film. In addition to compositing, Joshua served as a Production Assistant, organizing external resources, coordinating outreach, and supporting the crew behind the scenes. His work on Gravity Bound allowed him to deepen his love for storytelling and refine his collaborative process.
Ana Sofía Bobadilla
2D Animator, Story and Concept Artist
Ana Sofía is a 2D Animator who worked on storyboarding, concept development, and effects animation in Gravity Bound. She was first drawn to Gravity Bound because of the story and the opportunity to animate a 2D character and an abstract effects sequence, however, as the story developed, those ideas were dropped. This didn’t unmotivate Ana though, she still enjoyed and took the opportunity to design and animate effects for the film as well as help develop the story and its style. Ana first got into 2D animation because she wanted to bring her own characters to life, later on, she discovered she really enjoyed doing effects animation. Working on Gravity Bound has given her the opportunity to explore and expand her effects animation skills as well as the opportunity to grow as an artist.

Caleb Brown
Story and Concept Artist, 2D Animator
Found by the team a few days before the deadline was due, Caleb was brought on to Gravity Bound primarily for his storyboard and concept skills, as well as a small amount of experience with 2D animation. While never actually taking a class to teach him animation, Caleb was able to rise to the challenge and beyond, being able to add his own flair to the film. Some of the work that he did on the film included helping design the Man on the Moon, concepts of both environments in the film, and every 2D shot that includes rain and water. Some of Caleb's qualities are his love of Kirby, his ability to make people laugh, and his ability to rise to any new challenge to make something new.
Diana Cardenas
CG Artist
Diana Cardenas has always known she wanted to be a CG artist since she was in middle school, dreaming of what she would create in the future. Working on Gravity Bound has been a deeply meaningful and rewarding experience for Diana, holding a special place in her heart as it was her first choice when selecting her capstone project. She was fortunate to collaborate with an incredibly talented and supportive team, whom she grew to love and deeply appreciate throughout the journey. Achieving a mystical look for the film pushed her to think creatively and problem-solve in new ways, this enhanced her technical and artistic skills. When she's not working on the film she will be playing Pokemon, reading mangas, and relaxing with friends.

Rayan Chatterjee
CG Artist
Rayan Chatterjee was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. As a little kid, he had a knack for making videos and drawing cartoons. After sharing his artwork and videos with friends at school, he realized this passion could be a career. This has led him to SCAD and to this film, Gravity Bound, in which he rigged characters, modeled props, was responsible for lighting and rendering multiple shots, and overall boosted team morale. Rayan has learned a lot working on this film and is extremely grateful to have worked with such an incredible and talented team.
Amanda Hawkins
3D and 2D Animator, Story and Concept Artist
Amanda Hawkins is one of the 3D character animators for Gravity Bound. She also has a background in illustration and did a portion of the storyboards and character design exploration. Amanda also had the pleasure to illustrate for this short film. She learned so much about animation throughout this journey, and will never forget this experience. She loved seeing the movie come to life and being a part of a great team.

Haochen Zheng
3D Animator
Haochen was drawn to Gravity Bound by its poetic narrative and striking visual design. The story set against the stillness of the lunar surface, offered an opportunity for character Moonman and Shooting Star, to explore emotion. Haochen was responsible for animating key character moments, focusing on body language and facial performance to convey subtle shifts in their relationship. He worked primarily in Maya, creating expressive body and face animations that emphasized quiet tension and emotional nuance. The film’s distinct character design and conceptual clarity inspired him throughout production, challenging him to communicate meaning purely through movement. His experience on Gravity Bound deepened his interest in stylized animation and reinforced his passion for visual storytelling in atmospheric worlds.
